Botox And Fillers As A Model

Ok I vowed that I would never have botox, but as I am approaching 40, I have changed my mind. In fact I have had botox AND fillers!

I went along as a model to Cosmetology at the weekend. I had the botox on the Saturday and then booked for the fillers the next day.

I have been a little fed up with the tired look of my eyes lately. I didn't need anything too drastic, but I really wanted to look refreshed and also have a preventative from my eyes getting any worse. My top eyelids were a little dropey and I had find lines under my eyes, (smile lines).

On arrival I completed a form and then asked for some numbing cream. Lisa Leslie the buisness manager obliged. I took a pain killer before hand to minimise the effect of any headaches afterwards. The Supervisor was very nice and very kind. Craig Wood told me that he administers botox and fillers to some famous people, but rather annoyingly could not divulge their names. He was very knowledgable about beauty and all aspects of the face. He told me that my features were nice and that I did not need to much as my muscles were strong and my skin was good. There were four students all medically qualified and he expained everything to them clearly with the satisfaction of the client at the forefront. I must admit that I was a little scared when he started informing the students of what could happen if the botox was incorrectly administed. He reassured me that everything would be safe and I would look fabulous!  Nothing would go wrong.

(Craig's background is in midwifery suprisingly! He then diversified and is very accomplished in what he does now).

Two students were assigned to each side of my face under supervision. I had a little around my eyebrows and in my forehead and then some around the lower part of my eyes. It did not hurt, it was just a little stingy. (There is a strange scratching sound as the needle enteres the muscle). The students were all very competant and really lovely. I was asked to close my eyes and relax, I did and It was all over in a matter of minutes.

At cost price as a model for students Botox costs £2 per unit with Cosmetology. I paid just £100 and it was well worth it!

I booked in for fillers on the Sunday before leaving. My fillers were to be £90 per syringe.

I went back the next day. More numbing cream. It turned out that I needed two syringes as I had a small fold under each side of my bottom lip and my left side was more creased than my right side from my nose down to my mouth as I mostly sleep on my left side. (Wrinkles are also more apparent on one side more than the other in drivers as one side of their face is exposed more to the sun through the vehicle window.

Lucy Smith was supervising this time. Her background was as an NHS intensive care nurse. She was also very accomplised and experienced. (There was also another supervisor working with some students on another model at the other end of the room. His name was Tom Watkyns-Jones and he used to be a neurologist working for the NHS. I asked Tom lots of questions about various treatments and it was a real eye openener! He was very personable and willing to discuss all that I asked about. ha, ha! He thought that I was working in the industry! All this blogging is really teaching me alot!).

One of the students injecting me with the fillers was the same from the previous day's botox, Jake. I liked his humour, he was very good looking and viviacious. (I took a bit of a shine to him actually! He made me feel very comfortable and made me laugh). During the procedure it was necessary for the students to put their hands in my mouth to massage the inside and outside. (One at a time of course!) Jake told me that this was the closest he had ever been to a woman and really made me laugh! I am honoured!

There were two students assigned to each side of my mouth. Lucy was really good at directing them and reassured me the whole time. (I liked her style actually). It was slightly uncomfortable, but the end result was so worth it. I am now baby faced. Lines all gone!

I definately recommend this and I WILL be going back! (People worry about the fact that it is training with students, but the students have great supervision and they are very competant, eager to do well and most of all carefull).

I was looking at my face two and an half years ago after having my second baby and I did not like what I saw in the mirror. I am now so glad that I had a change of heart about injectables. I feel a bit like my old self again!

I will go for having my top lip plumped next time with Juverderm filler and I will also book for a gentle acide facial peel.

  1. All young men and woman say they'll never have botox or dermal fillers and it's normal because I said the same thing. But when you get close to 40 things usually change because the signs of aging start to take over our face and for most of us that's worst than going trough a war:) just kidding:P
Anyway, last year I had my first botox session in Ottawa and even if my entire face was red right after the procedure, after approximately 6 days I looked younger than I ever imagined. Before this experience I had no idea botox can change my appearance so much in sucha short period but now I'm glad I had this treatment because I feel more confident and definitely more beautiful.

  2. You're very busy with your treatments these past a couple of weeks. So, how does it feel afterwards? Have you felt any swelling on your face? If you have, you just have to drink 250 to 500 milligrams of bromelain 2 to 4 times a day. This should help minimize bruising by digesting proteins, which caused your face to swell.

  3. For me, the best part of trying skincare products is that you see great results after several days, weeks, or let me say sessions, of trying it. That sense of happiness you feel whenever you see that that certain treatment is efficiently working on your skin --- it’s really great! :')

  4. Well, first impressions can change when it comes to issues like this. If before, you’re not open to the idea of being treated with Botox, well, there’s really a huge possibility that you might change your mind after a while, especially when you start noticing those fine lines and wrinkles on your face. Hehe! And the fact that Botox can make you feel and look younger again, it might be hard to resist it.

  5. Yeah, when you reach 40 and your face gets those wrinkles you feel like getting rid of them as soon as possible, fillers can be very useful in such kind of situations.

  10. There is no need to be terrified of acquiring Botox Edmonton therapy; it is a wisely pain-free treatment. It is constantly best to head to a qualified medical professional with a lot of experience. If an experiences discomfort throughout botox treatment, it might arise from the wrong approach by the injector.

  11. If the individual has not responded well to other preventive drugs or has suffered intolerable side effects from them, healthcare professionals may explore Botox treatment.
